Access Virus KB in for repair.
Faults:
- It does nothing and wont boot up.
A very early model.
Diagnostics
- Once opened up (and these are far easier to open up than put back together) it was obvious, from the audible hiss type sound, that something was cooking/sizzling nicely.
- A couple of capacitors had leaked electrolyte over the board completely eating away the PCB vias.
Works Done:
- Repaired the broken traces and installed new capacitors.
A rather fiddly and unorthodox repair but eventually it was persuaded to resurrect itself and what a glory to behold. These keyboards have one of the best sets of presets around. Really deep sounds, really fun to play with.
