Description

Access Virus Polar Repair:

This wonderful looking Access Virus Ti Polar was in for repair.

Access Virus Polar Fault:

  • Would not power up.

Works Completed:

  • Resolved power supply issues
  • Cleaned keys
  • Removed all the dust from inside
  • Checked battery voltage

Having repaired a significant number of these units I have not come across a 2200uF/35V electrolytic capacitor soldered directly across the barrel power plug socket before.

I am not sure if this was factory installed or by someone else.

It’s quite easy to spot if previous works have been done on most equipment because I generally find that screws are missing, screws are of the wrong type (or mis-matched) and/or there are screw heads rounded.

When working on older audio equipment, quite often, the screw heads need to be pick cleaned of dust and debris before the screwdriver will fit tight inside the head.

I have also noticed that, certainly on Access, and also Nord keyboards, the screws that secure the rear jack boards seem to be torqued down tighter than that of a cylinder head. If the heads are full of muck and the correct size/type of driver bit is not used, they are very easily rounded. When that happens its a case of drilling them out and replacing; which is something one wants to avoid.
