Description
Access VirusC Rack Repair:
A dead on arrival Access VirusC Rack unit.
Opening this unit up it was apparent that previous works had been done but the quality of the soldering work and attention to detail was not good. Component legs were hanging below the board, the solder was pooled, the mains switch, which needed replacing, had likely been destroyed due to excessive heat being applied for too long which is why we put new FastOn spade connectors and boots along with the new switch.
The rust on the jack panel was treated as a preventative measure.
The usual electrolytic capacitors were replaced with quality ones including the two low ESR ones required for the switching regulator.
The other soldering was cleaned up, the board cleaned up of excessive flux.
It requires patience and careful solder tip heat setting to remove the components from these boards. It is not an task to rush otherwise damage will occur to the plated vias.
