Description
Acoustic Mineral Wool – (Dense Fibre Matting)
ProRox SL960 (RW5) and SL980 (RW6) are high-density acoustic mineral wool slabs designed to block airborne noise in walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Acoustic Mineral Wool (AMW): A dense material made of silicon and metallic oxides that traps sound waves. It performs far better than lightweight thermal fibreglass.
- Airborne Noise: Sound that travels through the air, like talking, music, or television audio
Key Applications
-
- Wall Cavities: Infill between timber or metal stud partition walls.
- Floor Joists: Infill between floor layers to stop sound traveling between storeys.
- Ceilings: Sound absorption inside suspended ceiling frameworks.
- Building Regulations: Helps structures meet UK Part E resistance to sound standards when combined with other acoustic products.

Material benefits
- Eco-Friendly: Contains 22% recycled material with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and Global Warming Potential (GWP).
- Durable & Resilient: Rot-proof, water-resistant, and non-hygroscopic (does not absorb moisture from the air).
- Biologically Inert: Will not grow mould, fungi, or bacteria, and does not attract vermin.
- Chemically Safe: Will not corrode plastic-coated wiring, metal wall ties, brickwork, or masonry.
Installation & Material Calculations
Slabs are designed for a friction-fit between structural frameworks. Because the timber or metal joists take up physical space, you require less insulation material than the total square footage of the room.
- Small Areas: Material savings are negligible.
- Large Areas (100m²+): Precise calculations save significant costs.
- Standard Estimation: For a typical 50mm wide frame spaced at 600mm centres, buying to the exact room area will leave you with roughly an 8% material excess.
