Beomaster 4000 Repair Bang & Olufsen
BeoMaster 4000 repair. A Bang & Olufsen creation. She doesn’t power up and blows an internal fuse.
The main capacitors serving the power supply and speakers have started to spill their insides.
Having been sat in an unfriendly environment for many years she is very poorly.
The insides are full of dust contamination and most screws heads have turned to rust.
The main power rectifier was also dead. The trimmer potentiometers were malfunctioning.
The front faders were very noisy.
The signal strength indicator lights were not working.
The signal strength meter light was not working.
The power on light was dead.
Not a single wire to board connector in sight, and removing any part seems to require almost total disassembly of the entire unit.
We got there in the end. Gave it a good clean inside and outside as well.
Getting the fader covers back on was not a simple job as they are just clipped with friction against the chassis. They were also in need of some serious cleaning.
