Description

Polyurethane Acoustic Foam

Polyurethane Acoustic Foam is a versatile open-cell insulation engineered to control airborne noise by minimizing sound reflections off boundary surfaces. By dampening echoes and reducing reverberation, it lowers the overall ambient noise level within enclosed spaces.

Key Performance Benefits

  • Broadband Absorption: Offers high-frequency sound absorption, reaching up to 1.00 absorption coefficient at 4kHz for the 50mm variant.
  • Fire Safety: Formulated to be self-extinguishing, meeting FMVSS302, BS 4735, and ASTM D1692 standards.
  • Acoustic Tuning: Compatible with advanced technical facings that can alter the acoustic profile, boosting low-to-mid frequency performance inside space-restricted machinery enclosures.
  • Application Note: Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) daylight causes this material to fade and yellow over time. It is best utilized inside darker environments, cabinets, or internal enclosures.

Sound Absorption Profiles

The foam’s acoustic performance scales dynamically by thickness, grading from Class D to Class C absorption ratings:

Sound Absorption Coefficients
Thickness 125Hz 250Hz 500Hz 1kHz 2kHz 4kHz αw Class
12mm 0.05 0.10 0.20 0.35 0.45 0.65 0.30 D
25mm 0.10 0.25 0.45 0.70 0.85 0.90 0.45 D
50mm 0.20 0.45 0.80 0.95 0.90 1.00 b C
