Description

Speaker isolation hangers

Our range of speaker isolation hangers provides high-performance structural vibration isolation for loads ranging from 5kg up to 60kg per mount. By decoupling speakers from walls and ceilings, these acoustic hangers eliminate structure-borne noise and prevent acoustic energy from traveling through building structures.

Why Use Speaker Acoustic Isolation Hangers?

Standard rigid brackets connect speakers directly to walls or ceilings. This direct contact transmits high levels of vibrational energy that travels unhindered throughout a building.

Our anti-vibration hangers feature a low-stiffness design to provide superior structure-borne noise isolation. They achieve low natural frequencies ranging from 3Hz to 4Hz, effectively trapping vibrational energy before it enters the building frame.

Key Features and Specifications

  • Load capacity: Supports weights from 5kg up to 60kg per mount across five models (ST-5, ST-10, ST-20, ST-30, ST-60).
  • Isolation Frequency: Achieves natural frequencies from 3Hz (at full deflection) to 4Hz (at 50% deflection).
  • Design composition: Features mechanically fail-safe metal parts, a rubber end-stroke buffer, a steel coil spring, and a Sylomer layer for mid-high frequency isolation.
  • Deflection: Requires 3mm compression of the top foam layer; full 30mm spring deflection yields optimal ~3Hz isolation.

How Do I Install Speaker Isolation Springs?

  • Quantity required: Use a minimum of 2 or 3 hangers per speaker to meet designed deflection loadings.
  • Weight distribution: Load springs as equally as possible based on the speaker’s centre of gravity.
  • Hardware: Fix using suitable screws or M6 threaded rods (M8 available by special order).
  • Compression: Tighten fixings to compress the soft foam top by roughly 3mm

Threaded rods are required for this product.

The mounts are fixed to the ceiling using suitable screw/fixing or with a threaded rod (via the 6mm top hole).

The soft foam top needs to be compressed by about 3mm via tightening of the fixing. A threaded M6 rod is secured to the spring top housing and down to a suitable sidebeam or back plate fixed to the speaker body.

With a negligible weight loading, i.e. the spring is barely compressed (0mm), isolation would be in the region of 10Hz.

At about 50% deflection, isolation would be circa 4Hz.

Full 30mm spring deflection (near 5kg) the isolation would be circa 3Hz.

NOTE: An M8 version is available to special order.
